United Healthcare CEO hit on the streets of NYC.

0:00 He's breaking news up front. I actually broke this to Jay during the pre show. So early this morning, a little before 7am this morning, the CEO of United Health Care, who is the largest health insurance provider in the country, can only be determined like called assassinated on the streets of New York. If you go onto the Twitter's or various of the social media platforms, the video is floating around the surveillance video from the hotel he was staying at. Guy like rolled up behind him with a with a suppressed pistol.

0:40 And that was it. Right right in front of a witness. That guy was not going to be deterred. And he didn't care that he was seen like he let the witness go. He just did his business and kept walking on a busy New York. Like nothing happened. So this brought forth a few interesting reactions of very similar to kind of what's going on in the chat right now, which is a lot of people were like, my thoughts and prayers are out of network. That's funny. Did they check whether the ambulance was in network before they took him to the hospital? Simultaneously, Blue Cross Blue Shield announced today that they're not covering full length anesthesia for surgeries.

1:25 And people were like, well, probably not the best day to announce that Blue Cross. Like unrelated, completely underrelated. And again, some of the other stuff is, you know, how many people who've had health care tonight? Like there's probably a million people out there in the country with a motive. Yeah. Do you think with the stuff that happened with January 6th and increasing levels of this, do you think this might become a new normal? That's my question to you, Jay, is does this start becoming a new normal in our country? Just like you see people assassinating people.

2:07 Yeah. Like you see this in Central America and places like that and other parts of the world where, you know, like assassinating corporate leaders and stuff like that. Like this is not weird in Colombia or Venezuela or Eastern Europe, right? But we've kind of been insulated, right? Some of the chats bring up school events, right? Have they become normally normalized? Do you think this kind of thing, do you think that this brings about copycats? Do you think that this brings about other people who are like, you know what, maybe we just need to start icing CEOs?

2:49 I honestly don't think it's going, I don't think that's like the conversation. I think it's more so of like, hey, like look at that guy. Like that guy was able to do this. I could do it too. Like and just kind of doing it to people that they don't like. I don't know. Um, this does seem, I mean, I don't know. I don't want to say like someone hired a hit man, right? But like, I don't know. Most of, most of the times, like, I don't know, with like active shooters, I always feel like it was like, well, that could have been way worse, but they weren't like super knowledgeable or whatever.

3:34 This one though was like very well executed. I don't really know. I don't know. What do you think? Is this going to be the new norm? I worry that it is. I worry that it is. So for those that don't know in the chat and some people who don't, who may not prior to me opening my game store and then now that I've left my game store, my business is actually corporate security. This is what I do. Interestingly enough, my boss flew in today for this event. We were going to we're discussing this both before and after the event at dinner. And a couple of things strike me as odd here. One CEO's of this caliber of this size of a company.

And we'll get to that in a second. These guys usually don't move without executive protection teams. They just don't. Right. Because if you're a CEO, especially for somebody like a Bezos or Gates, first off, there's just straight up crazy people out there. You know, there was a guy who believed that Bezos owed him 40 bucks and was hunting him like it's there's there's just goofball wacko people out there. So these guys usually don't move out. So the fact that he was on a street in Manhattan at 7 a.m.

4:58 by himself was weird. Right? That's odd. And it's odd that they don't have an EP team with him. They could have cut the EP team because they didn't think that the threat level was high and they didn't want to pay for it. Right. You know, so it's possible because the security is not cheap, especially the EP security. It's just not it's not inexpensive. All that to say as well, I guarantee you there are a lot of companies out there all day today that have been calling their security vendors going. We might need to increase security for a while. So since you're like the expert in this, do you think this shooter monitored this guy and then realized that this guy had a pattern where like, OK, every, I don't know, Wednesday at 7 a.m.

5:50 He's unprotected. No, there's a. So there was a shareholder meeting for you at C in New York today. Well, that's that's public information. Figuring out which hotel he was probably staying at takes a little bit of work. But I imagine he my guess again, this is a guess. My guess is that it was he put himself in a position where he thought he might have a chance and his chance showed up and he took it. Yeah, sounds like something. There actually was a law and order episode, except and I love me some law and order. My wife knows this. All right. Like boom, boom. All right. So I'm going to go ahead and get this.

It was it was my official business travel show for a long time because it was always playing on TNT and said no matter what hotel I was in around the country when it was late at night and you're in one of those fucking, you know, Hilton business class in the middle of nowhere and there's nothing to do. You can watch a law and order marriage on. Anyway, that episode, it was a body armor manufacturer. He was a CEO of a body armor company who was gunned down by a soldier whose friend died in the war because they were selling faulty body armor. Wow. So again, yes, it does sound like to go with what Chad said.

7:13 Yeah, it sounds like a law and order episode for sure. This is the type of civil unrest stuff, though, that does again. It could start to become. Normal. Normal. I think people are starting to get frustrated with corporate power. Frustrated, but why? But why sarcasm? And by the way, legal, we're not advocating you go out and start merking CEOs. OK, no, that's not what we're saying. No, absolutely not.

7:53 We're looking at this from a are we shocked? No, the types of companies that you would expect this kind of reaction to. Not surprising. Yeah, right. I will be supremely surprised if it turns out they find this guy that was totally random. Again, based on the video, he had a target, right? Like Jay said, there was you can see in the video, there's somebody standing to like what, six feet to his right? Just a bystander like just standing there and he was like, did not care. Guns out. Bam. Bam. Right. And he was what, maybe 10 feet behind the guy? Yeah.

And to be to be fair, I put down a lovely topic for Alex and it was a titled is poop real. And he deleted that. It was like, we're going to open with this assassination. Oh, man. Again, he's he's an insurance CEO. People don't like insurance companies. Chats talking about you.

9:56 They're not. So the the Internet reaction has mostly been, you know, which I actually, again, from a security threat perspective, that's actually telling as well. Right. If you want to look at it from a threat assessment perspective and I've done a lot of threat assessments, the idea that this guy had been getting threats, enough threats to where his wife knew about it, where he talked to her about it. And the fact that the reaction from the general public has just been kind of blasé. Right. Very like, you know, as Chats bring up, you know, a lot of comments about, was it a preexisting condition?

10:41 Was he out of his mind? Was it a preexisting condition? Was he out of network? You know, like that's kind of the reaction that the public's getting. And so when you're seeing what can only be shown. And again, this is why I asked whether this becomes the new normal. Because anybody else who's who's considering something that's doing something like this, when the reaction to the general public is basically. Eh. Does again, does that start to become a new normal? No. In a way that we haven't really seen in this country before. Do you think in like two years this is going to be made into like a Mark Wolberg movie at all?
